ITALIAN BEACH HOUSE
Waking up to the sound of the birds
It's not even noon And the sun is already giving All our skins her energy Butterflies flying high around my fingers Thinking it's XTC Blossoms are saying hi to the rayons of sun They’ve missed so much Come and see it, come and see it The world is restoring People are nice and not boring I just wish you'd see it… While drinking your coffee On the terrace Of our Italian beach house Even the neighbours said Hi to me The sky never turns grey anymore I've kept the dress you always wore It reminds me of you And then there's dawn When stars come through And they look at us Like we're wild animals in a zoo Come and see it, come and see it The world is restoring People are nice and not boring I just wish you'd see it… While drinking your coffee On the terrace of our Italian beach house Oh, I wish you could see it I think you wouldn't believe it But the world is not restored Without you © & ℗ M.Teklal |
THAT SUDDEN COLD
I’ve always feared a sudden cold
That would burn upon my chest When you leave the truth untold How it silences the rest I’ve always feared the cold Have you ever walked a clouded line As you wait upon your turn When you leave a friend behind And you know you won’t return I’ve always feared that sudden cold All my demons came out running A thousand demons came out running I was blind Hiding out in the den Nothing more than the fear kicking in Have you ever held a thought so tight Like a fist filled up on sand As you you try to squeeze so hard it escapes From the holes in your hand I’ve always feared that sudden cold When all my demons came out running A thousand demons came out running I was blind Hiding out in the den Nothing more than the fear kicking in © & ℗ L. DON'T YOU (FORGET ABOUT ME) - MDAO version
Won't you come see about me
I'll be alone, dancing You know it, baby Tell me your troubles and doubts Giving everything Inside and out Will you stand above me, look my way, never love me Rain keeps falling, Rain keeps falling down, down, down Will you recognise me, call my name or walk on by Rain keeps falling Keeps falling down Love's strange so real in the dark Think of the tender things that we were working on Will you stand above me, look my way, never love me Rain keeps falling, Rain keeps falling down, down, down Will you recognise me, call my name or walk on by Rain keeps falling Rain keeps falling down Will you call my name As you walk on by Will you call my name When you walk away Will you call my name As you walk on by Will you call my name When you walk away © Forsey/Schiff (Adaptation by Teklal/Vervaet) / ℗ Universal Music Corp THE CAT
She took the car and drove all night
All through the darkness into the light Those little outbursts in a silent way Were all early signs she would never stay Have you heard from Will? Better call him up There’s a rumor going he ran out of luck Now stay out of reach Stay out of sight What a nice goodbye What a great delight Do you remember when You kicked the cat Then put a curse on everything We just rolled and danced To your jealous swing Consider this: I take the blame All hell on me but you are still the same A rich man’s secret Is a poor man’s crime You never truly knew What was on my mind… Ta-dada-taa-dada-da © & ℗ L. NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANYMORE
My bedroom light is still on
In my room I fill my hours with self-help videos All day long If someone were to ask me Where I’d be in twenty years I would just smile and look at them I would just smile and look at them My friends don’t call me up Anymore I’ve become a bit too old For their concern I’ve grown tired of asking for help From door to door Nothing makes sense anymore The snow hits, the rain falls on the shore Nothing makes sense anymore For a ghost lives my life And I watch it go by Like the greatest movie of the century Wish I was cast for this thing To be in Last week I cut my hair short You liked it long I try to walk past the scales But fear leads me astray I’ve read the novels, I pondered a play What would it be like to be understood Would you be someone else if you could Nothing makes sense anymore The snow hits, the rain falls on the shore Nothing makes sense anymore Nothing makes sense anymore Nothing makes sense anymore… © & ℗ Teklal/Vervaet ENOUGH
’Cause never can I pay my bills of lost and found
Of luck and thrill Fuck & kill, this makes me ill Can I just live… indistinct Not enough, not enough Make it stop now A burden, damn it hurts my back Let’s cut the cracks And all the imperfections I want it all Limitless in all requests I stand straight Can I get a little less of it, of you I know you mean good Only the best for your idea, give peace some rest Defy the world No honest quest Enough On my own will I'd lose my voice to lose you too Makes me feel like I’m a fool Unused tool Too low for him Too sad for you, too sad for you Not enough, not enough Make it stop now A burden, damn it hurts my back Let’s cut the cracks And all the imperfections I want it all Limitless in all requests I stand straight Can I get a little less of it, of you I know you mean good Only the best for your idea Give peace some rest Defy the world No honest quest Enough © & ℗ Teklal/Vervaet |

MDAO is currently collaborating with Brussels-based singer, pianist & songwriter Maya Teklal.
Supporting sparkling clear vocals, Teklal & Vervaet are blending pure acoustic instruments with spacious electric guitar dirt and analogue electronics. Their songs are echoing melancholy of the great songwriters of our time, combined with a raw edge both lyrically and production wise. |
